Chitwan Lalji received her BA (Economic Honours with Mathematics) from St. Bede’s College, Shimla and her Masters (Specialisation in Econometrics and Agriculture) and M.Phil. in Economics from Panjab University, Chandigarh. The topic of her M.Phil. dissertation was “Inter-State Variations in Rural Industrialisation in India”. During her M.Phil., she simultaneously worked as an Assistant Professor in Chandigarh. She is at present pursuing her PhD in “Essays in Health Economics” from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, under the guidance of Dr. Debayan Pakrashi. At IIT Kanpur, she has been given extra responsibility of tutoring undergraduate students (ECO101 course) since completion of her coursework. Her research interest lies in consumption habits (with special focus on intake of fruits and vegetable and its impact on physical and mental health), corruption in the access to healthcare and admission into hospitals in developing countries, family welfare and fertility, and impact of social networks on health.
